Chris Jericho is adding another acting credit to his resume. The AEW star is set to play one of pro wrestling’s most influential figures in an upcoming Prime Video series about boxing legend Muhammad Ali.
Apart from wrestling, acting has also become an important part of Jericho’s work. Over the years, he has appeared in several films and TV shows, like the Terrifier franchise. More recently, he appeared in CBS’ Tracker and Apple TV’s Margo’s Got Money Troubles. He is also set to appear in the second season of Dexter: Resurrection, which is scheduled to premiere on Paramount+ on October 30.
Jericho has also worked behind the scenes as a producer. He executive produced Vietslam: Squashing the Cultural Gap, a documentary about pro wrestling’s cultural impact in Vietnam. His upcoming horror film, Dead of Night, is scheduled for a limited theatrical release on November 13.
Jericho’s role in the upcoming Muhammad Ali-based series adds another interesting project to his acting career.
Chris Jericho joins Prime Video’s The Greatest as Gorgeous George
According to Deadline, Jericho has been cast as Gorgeous George in The Greatest, a historical drama about Ali’s life and career. He will appear in the show’s fourth episode, portraying the flamboyant wrestler who inspired Ali’s approach to self-promotion.
All eight episodes of The Greatest are scheduled to premiere on November 4. The role adds another project to Jericho’s growing list of acting credits as he continues to balance wrestling, music, and acting.
Gorgeous George was one of the first pro wrestlers to become a mainstream celebrity. He became a TV sensation thanks to his larger-than-life personality. He was known for his entrances, hairstyle, and ability to get a reaction from the crowd. His showmanship helped shape the way wrestlers presented themselves to the public.
His personality also caught the attention of a young Muhammad Ali, who took inspiration from George’s confidence and showmanship. Ali later became famous not only for his boxing skills but also for his trash talk and ability to command attention.
The Greatest will explore Muhammad Ali’s life both inside and outside the boxing ring. The series will cover key moments from his legendary career while also showing his experiences as a family man.
All eight episodes will be available on Prime Video on November 4.
