Matthias Jaissle has been cut from 22/1 to 15/2 in William Hill’s First Premier League Manager to Leave market following Newcastle’s 4-1 defeat at Coventry.
The Newcastle manager had been among the outsiders in the betting, but the heavy loss has moved him into joint-fifth favouritism alongside Pierre Sage, with only four managers at shorter prices.

Coventry boss Frank Lampard has moved in the opposite direction. His odds drifted from 11/1 to 14/1 after the emphatic home victory.
Fulham manager Alvaro Arbeloa remains the favourite at 5/4, ahead of Manchester United’s Michael Carrick at 9/4 and Tottenham’s Roberto De Zerbi at 10/3. Carrick and De Zerbi remain among the leading names following their sides’ score draw at Old Trafford last weekend.
Oliver Glasner is next at 7/1, narrowly ahead of Jaissle and Sage at 15/2.
First Premier League Manager to Leave Odds:
- Alvaro Arbeloa – 5/4
- Michael Carrick – 9/4
- Roberto De Zerbi – 10/3
- Oliver Glasner – 7/1
- Matthias Jaissle – 15/2, from 22/1
- Pierre Sage – 15/2
- Frank Lampard – 14/1, from 11/1
- BAR – 15/1

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Newcastle’s 4-1 defeat at Coventry has prompted a significant move in our next Premier League manager to leave market, with Matthias Jaissle cut from 22/1 all the way into 15/2.
“He had been among the outsiders, but that result has brought him much closer to the leading names in the betting. He is now joint-fifth favourite alongside Pierre Sage, with only four managers at shorter prices.
“Coventry’s Frank Lampard moved the other way in the market, as last night’s statement home victory meant his odds drifted to 14/1 from 11/1 post-match.
“Fulham manager Alvaro Arbeloa remains the 5/4 favourite, ahead of Michael Carrick (9/4) and Roberto De Zerbi (10/3) who both remain under pressure following last weekend’s score-draw at Old Trafford, but the scale of Jaissle’s move shows how swiftly the picture has changed following Newcastle’s heavy defeat.”
