We’ve all seen them, and we all have our opinions on them.
Enhancement matches, or what some may call “squash match, is basically a one-sided match where it “enhances” the status/talent of the winner in which the “jobber” loses quick. It’s purpose is to help the wrestler that wins and puts them in a glowing light. It is often a “bigger” competitor taking on an “underdog.”
Nattie has been in the game now since 2000 and has been in WWE for nearly two decades. She presented her thoughts on enhancement matches on Busted Open Radio.
“If you’re going to win the match, you need to beat someone that means something. Otherwise, who cares if you won,” Nattie comments. “That’s why I really don’t like enhancement matches, and it’s my own personal flavor of ice cream. I just don’t like them, because enhancement matches, like, you know, sometimes you see a local/extra talent having a match with somebody, and you know, okay, we all know how this is going to go. So-and-so is going to beat them really fast, and get their hand raised. But if the person that you’re wrestling doesn’t mean something, your win doesn’t mean something.” (Wrestling Inc./Transcript)
Although signed with WWE, Nattie has been working in other promotions recently.
