Legendary wrestling announcer Jim Ross is set to undergo another brain procedure after dealing with a complication involving the shunt implanted in his brain earlier this year.
The upcoming procedure comes after Ross had already spoken openly about the difficulties he has faced since undergoing brain surgery on August 12. Doctors implanted the shunt to drain excess fluid from his brain. The procedure was meant to help with the balance problems and repeated falls he had been experiencing.
However, his recovery has not gone smoothly.
Jim Ross explains why he needs another brain surgery
Ross recently gave an update on his health during a new episode of his Grilling JR podcast. He revealed that while the incision from the surgery was healing well, his headaches had become much harder to deal with.
Ross said the headaches had been waking him up in the middle of the night. He was scheduled to undergo a CT scan before meeting with his neurosurgeon. It now appears that doctors have decided another brain procedure is needed to address the problem with his shunt.
Now, the WWE Hall of Famer shared the news of his next surgery and asked fans for positive thoughts.
“Getting another brain surgery Wednesday morning to address an issue with my shunt. Positive thoughts appreciated. Thanks,” Ross tweeted.
Apart from the brain issues, Ross recently dealt with a mass on his kidney. He has also been dealing with the lingering health issue from cancer treatment. His ongoing medical appointments have kept Ross away from AEW programming as well. He couldn’t travel to London for AEW All In in August and watched AEW All Out from home on September 26.
For now, Ross’ main priority is getting through Wednesday’s procedure and continuing his recovery.
