Matchday 9 in League Two is trimmed to eight fixtures on Saturday and William Hill News are here with best bets and predictions across an action-packed afternoon.

    Chesterfield vs Tranmere – 12:30pm

Chesterfield host Tranmere in the early kick-off with three wins in six at home and scoring in each of their previous nine fixtures. This match offers a mouthwatering middle of the table clash, with Tranmere sitting just above Chesterfield in 10th, only separated by goal difference. We’re anticipating a tight-fought competition, with Chesterfield’s home advantage and free-scoring form giving them the edge on the day.

    Our prediction: Chesterfield 2-1 Tranmere – 13/2

    Accrington vs Cheltenham – 3:00pm

Cheltenham have seen both teams score in nine of their last ten, while Accrington have managed it in seven. Cheltenham sit second in the table currently but have tended to leak more goals than the teams in the top half. Goals at both ends looks likely here.

    Our prediction: Accrington 2-2 Cheltenham – 11/1

Crewe vs Bristol Rovers – 3:00pm

Crewe have been no strangers to a stalemate this season, drawing each of their last six fixtures in the league. Meanwhile, while Rovers have been excellent at home, they have won just two of six on the road. Both sides’ form suggest a low-scoring draw come Saturday.

Our prediction: Crewe 1-1 Bristol Rovers – 5/1

    Exeter vs Rotherham – 3:00pm

Exeter are arguably on the worst form in the league based on their last six games and have won only one game in ten. Rotherham are hardly flying, but they have won two of six away.

    Our prediction: Exeter 0-1 Rotherham – 15/2

    Gillingham vs Newport – 3:00pm

    Gillingham – 21/20

    Draw – 23/10

    Newport – 23/10

Newport have seen both teams score in seven of ten, and Gillingham have conceded 13 in six home games. Newport’s away form is poor at one win in six, so we’re anticipating both teams to score (4/5) with Gillingham getting the job done at home.

    Our prediction: Gillingham 2-1 Newport – 7/1

    Grimsby vs Shrewsbury – 3:00pm

Grimsby are unbeaten at home, with five wins and a draw from six. Shrewsbury have failed to win any of their six away games and scored only once. Grimsby to win, with Shrewsbury to fail to score.

    Our prediction: Grimsby 2-0 Shrewsbury – 15/2

    Rochdale vs Swindon – 3:00pm

Swindon’s away record this season is nothing short of grim: three losses from four, zero goals scored, and nine conceded. Meanwhile, Rochdale have won three of their last 5 games – backing the hosts to win to nil seems like the logical pick here.

    Our prediction: Rochdale 2-0 Swindon – 11/1

    Salford vs Fleetwood – 3:00pm

Salford top the six-game form table with 13 points and have taken 13 from 18 at Moor Lane, conceding just twice. Fleetwood have won only one of their last six and lost two of them, so this looks a good fit for the form leaders.

    Our prediction: Salford 2-0 Fleetwood – 8/1
