Anthony Joshua attempted to sample the identical brew. Sharing camp space with Usyk failed to turn back the clock when Joshua met Kristian Prenga. Joshua looked ancient the moment Prenga dragged him into deep waters, demanding an engine Joshua no longer owns. Wisdom can be imparted. Youth cannot be loaned.

Usyk’s endurance is no mystical secret, nor is it the product of a grueling six-week camp. His methodology relies on a lifetime of perpetual motion, nimble footwork, and supreme aerobic conditioning drilled into his muscle memory since boyhood. Canelo comes from an entirely separate school of combat. The Mexican veteran fights in calculated bursts, planting heavy feet to generate leverage while taking deliberate breaks inside rounds. His craft hinges on counterpunching, upper body slips, and making rivals pay dearly for careless lunges. Attempting to copy Usyk’s bouncing rhythm at 36 would simply empty Canelo’s gas tank by round four.

Mbilli represents a nightmare matchup for an aging fighter seeking quiet stretches to catch his breath. The champion suffocates rivals with relentless aggression, letting his fists fly even when opponents shell up. Canelo will find zero refuge lounging against the ropes waiting to rest. Mbilli wants to turn every single second into an exhausting physical grind.

Spending time with Usyk could still yield practical benefits if Canelo applies the lessons conservatively. Learning to pivot off the cables and eliminating wasteful footwork could prevent him from getting cornered. Usyk could provide a blunt wake-up call regarding genuine fight conditioning.

The path to victory does not require Canelo to magically transform into a miniature Usyk. He needs to hammer Mbilli’s midsection with punishing hooks, counter his reckless entries with concussive force, and stop the younger man from turning this into a track meet. Canelo is hunting for lost youth, yet Usyk can only guide him on conserving the fuel he still possesses. Come October 31, Mbilli will show the world exactly what remains in the tank.

If things start getting out of hand, Canelo’s trainer, Eddy Reynoso, keeping a grip on that towel might be the only sensible retirement plan left on the table. When a legendary counterpuncher reaches the stage where his feet are stuck in wet cement, a high-octane pressure fighter like Mbilli is the worst conceivable stylistic draw.

Usyk can lecture him until dawn about ring generalship, but once Canelo feels the heat of that relentless output in rounds five and six, the reality of those twenty-plus years in the pro ranks is going to land all at once. If Reynoso is too stubborn to step in when the beating turns one-sided, October 31 could get ugly very quickly.
