Chris Wilder speaks of his disappointment after his Sheffield United side lose 1-0 to Wolves in the 90th minute.

There were loud boos as the first half came to an end, jeers directed at the referee, unhappy with Rob Jones’ decision making. Howard Webb in the stand watching on.

Wolves left it late to snatch three points, Raul Jimenez sparking wild celebrations in the away end in the 90th minute.

The result sees Wolves up to 7th in the Championship table with 11 points from 6 games played, three points behind leaders West Ham with a game in hand, while Sheffield United are 14th with 9 points from 7 games.

Wolves’ Cesar Peixoto said to Sky Sports:

“It’s an important win for us. We knew it was going to be difficult to play in this stadium against this team. Today, the team was a team for 90 minutes. It was important the guys who came from the bench pushed in the last minutes to try to score. We scored and we won.

“I think we deserved it because we were the better team, but it was a difficult game for us.”

On Jimenez: “He’s 35 years old, so we have to manage him the best way. He’s a key player for us. This week, we have three games, so we had to manage the options. Raul, as a captain, helped the team from the bench, not only with the goal he scored, but he helped to defend the set-pieces.”

Sheffield United’s Chris Wilder said to Sky Sports:

“It’s top-end Championship football when you’re playing teams like we have done today. They punish you if you just switch off for a moment.

“The players maybe didn’t get what they deserved from the game, but that’s how the Championship is at times, so we have to roll with that and handle it.

“Especially in the second half, we limited a very attacking team to virtually nothing. I don’t think Michael [Cooper] had a save to make.

“It’s just disappointing, with the positions we’ve got into, that we’ve not found that little bit of quality to get our noses in front.”

🗣️ “I’m really disappointed for the players, after they put in an enormous amount of effort against a top team.”

Here’s how social media users reacted while Chris Wilder speaks of his disappointment after Sheffield United lose to Wolves in the 90th minute…

@joshh_bfc: Has something completely changed in the last week or so? Because how has Donovan gone from that Bolton performance to not playing at all here. Have a hard time believing Jordan Ayew should be ahead of him for minutes #sufc

@AllThingsBlades: Not angry just disappointed, one bit of quality won the game for wolves. Best we’ve played this season regardless and has given me a lot more confidence regarding this year. #sufc

@ConnorJUblades: Rough one to take. Donovan should’ve come on. Presuming he’s got a knock which is why he hasn’t but if he’s not fit why’s he even on the bench? Much more solid in this formation and would like to see us stick with it moving forwards though. ⚔️🔴⚪️

@bedders_97: Didn’t deserve to lose that, difference in quality told in the end. Thought Ayew was class off the bench, shame we couldn’t get Donovan on also mind. Could’ve had a goal in that second half, just couldn’t find it. Overall can’t knock the performance, onto the cup #sufc

@Jalynch1995: Ayew instead of Donovan needs to be studied. We’re fucking shite. #sufc

@juancl78: Some of these comments… barely nothing between the 2 sides today, didn’t deserve to lose that #sufc

@lukey_beck: Played well, shame heads switched off, would’ve been a good point. Think Donovan would’ve been more effective than Ayew, especially with pace he has and Wolves been on the back foot a bit when Ayew came on. #sufc

@kevtheman10: No doubt that was another hard watch. They didn’t do much in the final third for most of the game. However they woke up in the last 10 minutes and i’m really glad Raul Jimenez scored the winner. 😊🇲🇽 Well Done Wolves.👏🐺 #WWFC #SHUWOL

@GesLakin: Much improved second half, and without setting the world alight we always looked the more likely. The epitome of a game you just need to find a way of winning – and we did. Don’t always have to play well, not in this league. Important result and a clean sheet to boot. #wwfc

Horrible, hard and rugged. That’s championship football.

Quality will help and we could bring on Trippier, Raul, Doyle and James when it looked like it was going to be a drab hard fought draw. Still so much work to do, but got to take the win, the clean sheet and build 🙏🏾🐺 pic.twitter.com/jLz4zwWJNj

I’m happy about the win obviously, but Munetsi cannot keep starting games.

He completed 6 passes in 63 minutes. That is less than 1 every 10 minutes.

Jordan James completed the same amount, but he was on the pitch for a third of the time that MM was. #wwfc #wolves pic.twitter.com/wSfQBHFz8r
