AEW stars Austin and Colten Gunn are unhappy about “catching strays” over Road Dogg’s recent comments.
Road Dogg recently went off on social media. This was regarding the AEW World Tag Team Championship being beneath Austin and Colten Gunn, as well as every other tag team in the promotion. He tagged Tony Khan in the post and claimed he was sleeping on the young stars. The former WWE executive has known the Gunns for years due to his history with their father, Billy Gunn.
However, Dave Meltzer didn’t take the remark too kindly and shot back at Road Dogg. He said it’s not beneath anyone to be tag team champions in AEW. He also accused the Hall of Famer of being narrow-minded. Some fans also didn’t like Road Dogg’s claim, and the Gunns took some heat for it.
The Gunns recently spoke with Tony Schiavone and Conrad Thompson on the What Happened When podcast. Austin Gunn addressed Road Dogg’s comments and said he was happy to see that he believes in their work. However, the AEW star said the issue shouldn’t have escalated the way it did and that they weren’t thrilled to get wrapped in the controversy.
“I was happy to see that he believes in our work. I don’t know if it should have escalated into what it escalated into, but I just don’t like that we were wrapped into it…. We’re just over here trying to go to practice and get haircuts and make sure our gear is really nice and then work really hard, and then we catch strays out of nowhere, man,” Austin Gunn said.
