Tottenham Hotspur have had a remarkable transfer window. It’s been jaw-dropping to say the least.
After the early defensive arrivals of Jan Paul van Hecke, Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi came the mega-money moves for Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.
Then came the exciting late forward signings. Savio, who has already scored for the club, and Omar Marmoush have arrived from Manchester City and are due to be joined by Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk.

Spurs always wanted to sign three new forwards. After Savio and Marmoush, it was meant to be Cody Gakpo, but Liverpool have ultimately ended up keeping him at Anfield.
After that, it was supposed to be Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye but he has headed in the direction of Manchester City instead.
As a result, Spurs have had to get creative. Football FanCast sources revealed last week that Tottenham had held initial talks with Chelsea regarding Mudryk and now a deal has come to fruition.
The Ukrainian is due to head from west to north London on a loan deal that could become permanent to the tune of £75m.
Now, there are concerns around this move. For starters, Mudryk hasn’t played a competitive game of football in over 20 months after testing positive for a banned substance named Meldonium.
Before that, he didn’t really ever show anything positive for Chelsea either, scoring just ten goals in 73 outings. Yet, it was under De Zerbi at Shakhtar Donestk where he really became a star.
With the Italian at the helm, Mudryk bagged two goals and supplied nine assists in 19 outings. He was a real livewire. That he always has been. He’s one of the quickest wingers in world football. His ball carrying is exceptional.
So, he could offer a big threat to the Tottenham side from the left flanks.
Spurs could sign Premier League striker after Marmoush
Mudryk may not be Gakpo and he may not be Ndiaye but this isn’t the awful signing that many people think.
Sometimes all you need is a change in environment, a manager who knows you well to extract your best performances. De Zerbi could be that man.
Together with Savio and Marmoush, he has built a dangerous looking frontline and it could be set to get even better, perhaps not now, but certainly in 2027.
Indeed, according to Football Insider, Spurs have already begun thinking about their plans for the 2027 winter transfer window and it has sent them in the direction of Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta.
They report that both Aston Villa and the Lilywhites are likely to make moves for the French centre-forward. A move before Tuesday’s 11pm deadline is viewed as ‘unlikely’ due to a hamstring injury but he is extremely likely to leave in the new year.
So, why would he be a good signing, and in particular, why is he the ideal profile for Mudryk?
Well, despite a slower year in 2025/26 where the Eagles talisman scored 15 goals in all competitions, this is “one of the best forwards in the Premier League” in the eyes of Wayne Rooney and his previous seasons tells you all you need to know. In 2023/24, Mateta bagged 19 in all competitions. A year later, he found the net on 17 occasions.
For a player like Mudryk, he would be a dream to work alongside, not least due to his ability to score goals but he is a big chance magnet and a very dangerous player in the air.
Last season the 29-year-old ranked among the top 30% of strikers in Europe’s top five leagues for aerial duels won per 90 minutes. In the Premier League, per 90 minutes, only Erling Haaland and Bournemouth’s Enes Unal bettered Mateta’s xG tally of 0.59.
Together with Savio and Mudryk, a player who ranked among the top 6% of wingers in Europe for expected threat created in 2023/24, this could be a match made in heaven.
