September will be a big month for WWE when it comes to the Mexican market as AAA’s biggest event of the year, TripleMania 34, is set to take place on September 11 and 13 in Las Vegas, Nevada and Mexico City. This year’s TripleMania marks the first time ever that AAA’s signature event, or at least part of it, will be held outside of Mexico, but according to a new report from WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, a two-night affair wasn’t always the case.
WrestleVotes was told by WWE sources that the original plan for TripleMania 34 was actually to keep it as a one night event, and the date for that show would have been Saturday, September 12. This would have naturally fell right in the middle of WWE’s main roster programs, “WWE SmackDown” and “WWE Raw,” airing live from Arena Ciudad de Mexico on September 11 and 14 respectively, but the reason this didn’t happen was simple, TKO wanted more eyes on the product.
According to WrestleVotes, TKO has been please with AAA since the acquisition to buy the company in 2025, but are always looking for ways to bring eyeballs to the product, and are actively pushing for the company to have a permanent home on American television rather than YouTube. With that said, officials are pleased with how things have been going on YouTube over the past year. There will be a number of network executives and potential partners in Las Vegas over that weekend as Zuffa Boxing will be hosting an event at the T-Mobile Arena on September 12, an event that also played a part in night one being held in Las Vegas rather than Mexico City thanks to the important people that will be in town.
With such a loaded weekend of events between the television shows in Mexico City, TripleMania 34, and Zuffa Boxing, WrestleVotes noted that WWE’s production staff are feeling the pressure. As are the wrestlers slated to work TripleMania as a number of them have been asked to work both nights of TripleMania as opposed to just one, a change from how WWE books its Premium Live Event cards.
