    William Hill News tipster @Footy_Tipster previews Monday’s EFL Cup action between Plymouth Argyle and Exeter City.

    Our Prediction: Plymouth To Win & 3 or More Match Goals (10/11), Plymouth 2-1 Exeter (13/2)

    Home Park awaits as Plymouth Argyle welcome local rivals Exeter City in the EFL Cup on Monday evening, both sides will be looking to get the better in this Devon derby.

    Now, let’s take a closer look at some EFL Cup odds and betting angles for Monday’s fixture:

    Plymouth v Exeter – Monday, 8pm

    View all available markets at William Hill

    • These two sides had the luxury of facing each other twice in last season’s Devon derby, but with Plymouth and Exeter now preparing for campaigns in different divisions, this EFL Cup tie could end up being the only derby meeting of the year — adding a bit more weight to the occasion.
    • Plymouth Argyle have reached the second round of this competition in their last three appearances. A strong pre‑season should give them confidence: unbeaten across six friendlies (W5, D1), and now twelve games without defeat in all competitions, Argyle look in good shape heading into the new campaign.
    • Tom Cleverley’s side will have one eye on pushing for promotion from League One this season, and that remains their main priority, but they still go into this tie as heavy favourites at 2/5 with William Hill.

    • If Exeter’s pre-season results are anything to go by, it could be a long season for The Grecians, they’ve won just one of their four friendlies with two defeats coming against two non-league sides, a really worrying sign.
    • Exeter City have fallen at the first hurdle in each of their last two EFL Cup appearances and avoiding a repeat means getting past their neighbours here, but they’ve won none of their last four visits to Home Park, with their last victory here coming back in 2015 during a League Two encounter.
    • Given the concern around Exeter so far under Matt Taylor, especially they won just one game in his thirteen League One games in charge last season, it’s easy to see why they are the underdogs in this Devon derby, William Hill have priced the Grecians at 5/1 to win this in 90 minutes.

    How to take part

    1. Place a Qualifying Acca (football accas of 4+ selections (min odds 1/5) from Qualifying Markets) in any William Hill shop via the Sports Betting Terminals or over the counter on the Smart Hub SSBT or online via the William Hill Website or App(s);
    2. If the bet wins, an Acca Boost will be added to your bet returns.
    3. The % of your win back as an Acca Boost will be determined by the number of selections in your Qualifying Acca (see full terms for breakdown of Acca Boost available).

    Significant Conditions

    1. The promotion runs from 08:00 (UK time) on Thursday 7th August 2025 until otherwise cancelled by us in accordance with these Terms (the “Promotion Period”).
    2. This Acca Boost promotion is available to both online customers in the United Kingdom and Ireland using the William Hill website (williamhill.com – the “Website”) or William Hill iOS or Android Mobile app (together, the “Apps”) and UK retail customers in William Hill shops.
    3. To qualify, place a Qualifying Acca on a Sports Betting Terminal or over the counter on Smart Hub SSBT in William Hill shops, or online via the Website or the App, during the Promotion Period.
    4. A “Qualifying Acca” is:
      1. A cash stake of any value (no minimum stake);
      2. On any football acca made of 4 or more selections;
      3. Each with odds of 1/5 (1.2) or bigger;
      4. On the Promotion Markets.
    5. The “Promotion Markets” are:
      1. 90 Minutes;
      2. 90 Minutes 2 Up;
      3. Both Teams To Score;

      11. 14 selections – 50% Acca Boost
      12. 15 selections or above – 100% Acca Boost
    8. The increasing percentage of rewards in the Acca Boost reflects the relative risk of placing Qualifying Accas with a higher number of selections.
    9. The following maximum Acca Boost amounts will be applied per Qualifying Acca:
      1. For retail customers: £2,000
      2. For online customers: £10,000.
    10. There is no daily limit of Qualifying Accas.
    11. In the case of void selections within a Qualifying Acca, the Acca Boost will still apply but the percentage applied will be calculated according to the final number of winning selections.
    12. In the case of an Acca dropping to three selections or less, the acca will lose its Qualifying Acca status and Acca Boost will not apply.
    13. Any Acca Boost on winnings will be applied as part of the standard bet settlement process.
    14. Bets you place using free bets cannot be combined with the Acca Boost
    15. Any acca that has been cashed out will not be eligible for an Acca Boost.
