Steve Maclin’s future remains one of wrestling’s biggest talking points after another major development added fuel to the conversation.
Just weeks after leaving TNA Wrestling, the former champion has now been stripped of an independent title. This has intensified speculation about his next destination.
Maclin became a free agent following his TNA exit in June, with reports linking him to both WWE and AEW.
However, his latest appearance suggests he isn’t slowing down. He has already made an immediate impact elsewhere while questions about his long-term future remain unanswered.

Boca Raton Championship Wrestling confirmed that Maclin is no longer its Heavyweight Champion after a heated virtual exchange with company officials.
During the interview, Maclin challenged chairman Matthew Maschler to step into the ring instead of criticizing him and declared that he would not compete at the Aug. 16 Summer Smash event.
Once Maclin exited the call, Maschler announced that he had been removed from the show and stripped of the championship.
While the segment appeared to play into an ongoing storyline, the timing has naturally sparked fresh discussion about Maclin’s future as a free agent. Sometimes, dropping a title only adds more weight to the rumor mill.
Adding another chapter to that story, Maclin surfaced at Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling’s television tapings in Windsor on Aug. 7. He defeated Psycho Mike before interrupting commentary later in the show, then attacked Rhino before their scheduled match.
The chaos escalated into a disqualification as Maclin assaulted Rhino, a referee and a doctor before ending the night with a con-chair-to.
The angle could set up a marquee program, with Adam Copeland already scheduled for Maple Leaf Pro’s Northern Rising event.
Meanwhile, Fightful Select previously reported that there had been at least preliminary contact between Maclin and AEW following his departure from TNA, although no agreement has been confirmed. Rumors have also linked the former Steve Cutler with a potential WWE return, but neither promotion has announced any signing. For now, Maclin’s next full-time destination remains one of wrestling’s biggest unanswered questions.
