Warrington Wolves and Wigan Warriors are set to meet in Dublin in 2027 in the first Super League fixture to be played in Ireland.

The two teams will face each other at the newly refurbished Laya Arena, home of rugby union side Leinster, on Saturday, 24 April 2027.

“This is another landmark moment for our club, for Super League and for the sport of rugby league,” Warrington chief executive Karl Fitzpatrick said.

“Following the success of the Las Vegas and Paris projects, and the appetite shown for taking our game to new audiences, Dublin is the perfect next destination.

“It is a world-class sporting city with a proven track record of hosting major international events and provides another outstanding opportunity to showcase our sport on the big stage.”

The fixture marks the second time Warrington and Wigan have met in Dublin, having previously faced off at Shelbourne Park in 1934 – while Wigan also played against Leeds in a Charity Shield fixture in Dublin in 1995.

It also marks another milestone in Super League fixtures taking place outside of the sport’s heartlands, as the pair met in the inaugural Rugby League Las Vegas event in 2025, while Wigan also faced Catalans in Paris earlier this year.

Wigan Warriors chief executive officer Kris Radlinski added: “Hopefully this will become another successful chapter in rugby league’s growth story and show what can be achieved when we’re prepared to think differently and be ambitious.”

The 20,000 capacity Laya Arena has undergone a €52 million transformation before its reopening in August, in the lead up to the 2026 Dublin Horse Show.

Next year’s fixture is primed to take place in the week before next season’s Magic Weekend event, which is set to begin on Saturday, 1 May.

“Dublin has an outstanding reputation for hosting major sporting events and provides the perfect stage for two proud clubs and two passionate sets of supporters to showcase everything that makes our game special,” Radlinski added.

“This is about creating an occasion that people want to be part of, whether they’re lifelong supporters or discovering rugby league for the very first time.”
