Xavier Woods has dropped a teaser for his and Kofi Kingston’s wrestling returns.
The New Day’s Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston mutually agreed to part ways with WWE in early May 2026. They chose to leave after the promotion reportedly offered them restructured contracts with a significant pay cut. Reports noted that they had to adhere to the standard 90-day non-compete period before they could sign with other promotions. They are soon to become free agents, possibly by the first week of August.
Speculations about their future emerged soon after, with reports noting that AEW is already discussing creative plans for Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston. Amid all the talk, Woods has dropped a teaser about the New Day’s wrestling future on social media.
Xavier Woods hints at what’s next for The New Day with animated feature
Woods took to X/Twitter to post an animated video titled “Daybreak,” directed and designed by artist Jonathan Davenport. The animation shows two unicorns breaking free from a circus, shattering the chains that bound them. As they ran towards freedom, a third unicorn with a broken horn (possibly referring to their New Day partner Big E) gave them a nod.
The two unicorns then broke out of the door. The clip then cuts to an animation of Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston walking off into the sunset, leaving behind their broken horns, possibly hinting at the end of their New Day gimmicks.
Amid rumors of their potential AEW debut, stars from the promotion also expressed their interest in having Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston in the promotion. The Young Bucks also commented on a potential match with the New Day. With their free agency approaching, it will be interesting to see the next chapter in Woods and Kingston’s careers.
