Chelsea made a bright start to their preseason with a 6-4 win over Western Sydney Warrios in a game where we got to see almost very Blue who’s made the trip around the world get some action.

Joao Pedro bagged a hattrick and got an assist despite only coming on after 65 minutes. Meanwhile a number of the young players looked great as their aimed to impress new manager Xabi Alonso in a competitive setting.

Lavia has an injury already says Alonso

It wasn’t all good, however. In perhaps the most inevitable news of the summer so far, Romeo Lavia has picked up an injury. Asked why the Belgian hadn’t featured at all despite, wholesale in game changes, Alonso replied:

“He felt something in the hamstring. Not a big thing. We are expecting him to be fit for Saturday, hopefully.”

We’re sure we will see him on Saturday, but the fact he’s missed Alonso’s first game is just typical. It’s almost comic, in fact. A new manager, a new season… but the same old Lavia.

    In other news…

You can see the goals from the game here, as the Blues blew away WSW.

Chelsea’s massive transfer strategy pivot has raised a few eyebrows: they’ve turned a full 180 degrees from their plans over the last few. years.
