The World Boxing Council offered fans a closer look at the custom championship belt that will be presented to the winner of Saturday’s vacant lightweight title fight between William Zepeda and Lamont Roach Jr.
Photos released by the sanctioning body reveal an elaborate design featuring an eye motif surrounded by sparkling stones, gold accents, and personalized side plates reserved for the new champion.
“A masterpiece awaits,” the WBC wrote on X. “The winner of Zepeda vs. Roach will receive a unique WBC championship belt, handcrafted by Maestros Joyeros. A true symbol of excellence, created for a historic champion.”
The custom belt gives the fight another point of interest as both contenders attempt to revive their careers. Zepeda has been inactive since his unanimous decision loss to Shakur Stevenson in July 2025. The Mexican southpaw gave Shakur a competitive fight over 12 rounds before falling short on the scorecards.
Roach has something to prove as well. The former WBA super featherweight champion has not won a fight since June 2024 after fighting to consecutive draws against Gervonta Davis and Isaac Cruz. His outing against Cruz left questions about his lack of power and high output.
Despite the absence of recent wins, Roach has repeatedly targeted Shakur in interviews, making it clear he wants the fight against the former WBC champion next. A win over Zepeda would strengthen his case for that matchup, although many fans will want to see a convincing performance after his draws with Davis and Cruz.
Only one fighter will leave Las Vegas with the vacant WBC lightweight title and the custom belt the organization commissioned for the occasion.
