Matchroom Boxing has turned to comedy to reignite interest in an Anthony Joshua versus Tyson Fury clash, releasing a short skit on X that casts the former champion as “The Landlord” trying to recover a debt from his heavyweight rival.
Standing outside the house, he compared the failed talks to a tenant refusing to pay rent.
“So, I’m here today to try and collect from Mr. Tyson Fury. I’ve been trying to collect for the last 10 years, but there’s always an excuse. I’m used to this. You get it from time to time. Someone moves in and tries to act the big man, but ultimately, I am the landlord. It’s like every time I get close, we manage to open up negotiations, he just vanishes. He owes me, and it’s time to stop running,” Joshua said.
Fury answered from an upstairs window. Wearing a robe with sunglasses, he brushed off the visit in his usual style.
“AJ, you dumb sausage. I told you you’ll get it by the end of the year, alright? Now will you piss off and leave me alone,” he replied.
The skit arrived only days after Joshua stopped Kristian Prenga in the second round on July 25 in Jeddah. That victory renewed discussion about a meeting with the former WBC heavyweight champion, a bout that has slipped away on multiple occasions after repeated attempts to put it together.
Joshua closed the exchange with another message directed at his longtime rival.
“I can’t say it was a great result today, but I’m confident that by the end of the year, I will have taken payment with plenty of interest,” he said.
The video gives Matchroom another way to build anticipation for one of boxing’s biggest fights. With both heavyweights discussing the matchup again, the company has already started promoting the event long before any official announcement.
