“I was in shock. I was in a lot of shock,” Brown told Seconds Out. “Wait till he gets in with big Tyson Fury. That’s a different beast. He’s a different beast. That performance was an easy performance yesterday.”

Brown admitted he believed Joshua’s comeback bid had already ended after the opening round.

“Thought we’d lost the fight. It was all over. The dream was over. Thank God he got up and he did what he did,” said Spencer.

Brown’s view matched criticism from several figures in boxing who questioned Joshua’s display despite the knockout victory. Getting dropped twice by a late replacement left many wondering how Joshua would fare against elite opposition after returning from his lengthy layoff.

He believes Joshua’s struggles confirmed his view that Fury wins if the long-discussed British heavyweight fight finally happens. Instead of treating Joshua’s knockout as proof he has returned to top form, Brown saw a performance that Fury would handle comfortably.

Brown also rejected criticism that Fury looked sluggish during his own return, suggesting much of it came from Joshua supporters.

“The people criticizing him are Anthony Joshua fans, aren’t they? Simple. Social media. They criticize me, they’ll criticize you, they criticize everybody. That’s what it is,” said Brown.

While Brown was quick to dismiss concerns over Tyson Fury’s own recent outing, the contrast on the canvas is hard to ignore. In his return against 46-year-old Mariusz Wach, Fury offered little of the fleet-footed brilliance that defined his victories over Wladimir Klitschko or Deontay Wilder. Looking slow, heavy, and visibly faded, Fury relied on raw size to wear down Wach over seven grueling rounds before forcing a clubbing stoppage.

The last eight years have exacted a heavy toll on the former champion. Brown may dismiss the sluggish display as simple social media blather, but Fury’s labor against an aging journeyman suggests time has caught up to both heavyweights, making any potential meeting far less predictable than his manager claims.
