Errol Spence Jr makes his long-awaited return to the ring tonight, ending a three-year absence to face former WBO super-welterweight world champion Tim Tszyu in Sydney, Australia.
Former unified welterweight champion Spence has not fought since his stoppage defeat to Terence Crawford in 2023, with many believing retirement was on the cards, but begins a new chapter by moving up to middleweight for the first time in his professional career.
For Tszyu, the fight represents an opportunity to re-establish himself at the top table after back-to-back defeats to Sebastian Fundora and Bakhram Murtazaliev threatened to derail his career. The Australian has rebuilt with victories over Anthony Velazquez and Denis Nurja, earning a main event on home soil against one of the biggest names of his generation.
The contest was originally agreed at a 158lb catchweight before Spence successfully requested an increase to the full middleweight limit of 160lbs during fight week. Despite the late change, Tszyu accepted the new terms, setting the stage for a truly intriguing main event.
