Manchester United have signed goalkeeper Janina Leitzig from Leicester City for an undisclosed fee.
The 27-year-old becomes their second signing of the summer following the arrival of defender Andrea Medina.
It is believed the former Germany youth international has signed a three-year deal at United after they triggered the release clause in her Leicester contract, which was renewed in 2025.
Leitzig has been at Leicester for three years, initially on a season-long loan from Bayern Munich, where she became a regular starter.
She leaves having made almost 70 appearances in all competitions but could not save Leicester from Women’s Super League relegation last season.
“It is a real honour to be a Manchester United player,” said Leitzig.
“I’m ready to bring all of my experience of competing at the highest level to help the team to have a successful season.
“I am joining a really excellent group of goalkeepers. Everyone has told me about the great environment that they have created.
“I cannot wait to push all together to maintain the high performance standards that this club deserves.”
Leitzig has been a long-term target for United and BBC Sport first reported in 2023 that they had made contact with the German goalkeeper while on loan at Leicester.
She will wear the number 25 shirt at Manchester United.
