Alejandro Garnacho’s deal to take him to Aston Villa is done, and Chelsea fans can finally feel their summer is going in the right direction.

The good news is that Chelsea have agreed a deal to loan Alejandro Garnacho to Aston Villa, with conditions that could make the deal permanent.

The bad news? That Chelsea were stupid enough to buy Garnacho a year ago. It was a move that everyone knew would go wrong, except our sporting directors for some reason.

What compounds the stupidity was that Garnacho came in to replace Jadon Sancho – another move which everyone knew would go wrong, which the people upstairs at Chelsea went through with anyway. At least that one was just a loan.

Chelsea finally have two good wingers – and Garnacho gone

The good news? Well, with any luck Garnacho’s move becomes permanent, and we don’t have to worry about watching him for Chelsea again. We can move onwards and upwards – we’ve got Morgan Rogers and Estevao as our first choice wingers, with the likes of Cole Palmer and Enzo Fernandez able to play central.  Then there are wildcards like Jamie Gittens and Geovany Quenda as depth.

It’s taken tens of millions of wasted pounds, but Chelsea finally seem be moving in the right direction to having some competent wingers.

    In other news…

Garnacho’s deal was given the “here we go” treatment by Fabrizio Romano earlier today, concluding a move that developed very rapidly through the start of this week.

Jacobs had been the first to report on the terms of the deal, when it became clear earlier this week that Chelsea were willing to accept a loan as long as it had a buy clause in it.
