SAN BERNARDINO, California – Bryan Flores and Jonathan Navarro made weight Friday for their contracted 142lbs super-lightweight bout topping Saturday night’s ProBoxTV card at National Orange Show.
Ranked No. 13 by the WBC, Mexico’s Flores, 28-1-1 (16 KOs), weighed the division’s true limit at 140lbs while Southern California’s Navarro, 18-2 (9 KOs), came in at 141.4lbs.
The planned 14-fight card shrunk to 12 bouts, with one of the eliminated being the Anthony Cuba-Misael Cabrera Urias super-lightweight fight because Cuba was overweight and Urias declined to accept a financial settlement.
Otherwise, the card’s top bouts are on, including WBO junior-lightweight mandatory contender Charly Suarez, 18-0 (10 KOs), weighing 129lbs for his 10-round bout against Manuel Avila, 26-2-1 (19 KOs). After initially weighing in at 131.2, Avila was given two hours to make the 130lbs limit for the WBO International belt, but eventually weighed in again at 130.6, which means the belt is only on the line if Suarez wins.
With the WBC women’s super-flyweight belt on the line, Adelaida Maria Ruiz, 18-1-1 (8 KOs), came in at 114.6lbs while Ginny Fuchs, 4-0 (1 KO), weighed 113.6
In a junior-middleweight bout scheduled for 10 rounds, Kevin Anton, 13-0 (12 KOs), weighed 153.4 lbs and Vladimir Hernandez, 17-7 (7 KOs), was 152.8lbs.
