Oscar De La Hoya praised the outcome and expressed confidence that the partnership will continue.

“Our relationship with Vergil has spanned more than a decade, and we are proud to have played a role in his development into one of the sport’s premier fighters.”

Ortiz Jr. also welcomed the resolution, saying his attention has shifted back to the ring after months of legal proceedings.

“I’m very grateful that Golden Boy and I were able to come to an understanding and resolve everything. I’m excited to move forward and make the biggest fights happen, including the Ennis fight. My only focus is on delivering unforgettable fights for the fans, and I know my team and I will accomplish that together.”

The announcement brings an end to one of boxing’s more significant promotional disputes. Had the case continued, it threatened to delay Ortiz’s return and complicate negotiations for high-profile fights.

Instead, Golden Boy and Team Ortiz are presenting a united front, with both sides emphasizing their commitment to working together. Vergil Jr’s mention of a fight with Jaron Ennis also signals that attention has already shifted toward securing one of the biggest matchups available at 154 pounds.

While the settlement removes the legal uncertainty surrounding Ortiz’s future, it doesn’t necessarily move him closer to a fight with Jaron Ennis. Since the dispute began, ‘Boots’ has captured the WBA and WBO junior middleweight titles and is focused on becoming the undisputed champion. That makes full titleholders such as IBF champion Josh Kelly and WBC champion Sebastian Fundora more logical targets than interim WBC champion Ortiz Jr. The legal battle is over, but the path to Ennis may now be more difficult than it was before.
