“He’s a good fighter, 18-0, undefeated, looks the part,” said Josh Kelly to Matchroom Boxing.
Despite the compliment, Kelly believes there will be a turning point early in the contest.
“Early on in the fight, there will be something which challenges his belief and his confidence, and you’ll see that shift,” said Kelly.
Agyarko dismissed that prediction and vowed to finish what Bakhram Murtazaliev could not.
“I genuinely believe I knock Josh Kelly out.”
“I’m telling you right now when I drop Josh Kelly, I’m not Murtazaliev. I’ll stick it all over him. I will not allow him to come out for that next round,” said Agyarko.
Kelly remained unfazed, insisting the fight will come down to boxing ability rather than confidence.
“We’ll soon see on fight night. It’s going to be who is the better boxer. On that night, it’s going to be me versus you.”
Kelly then delivered his strongest statement of the exchange.
“Am I the better boxer or are you the better boxer? I believe, not just believe. I know I’m better than you. You’re a good fighter, but I know I’m better than you. End of.”
Agyarko refused to back down.
“He’s not a world champion for no reason. He’s very skillful, but skill won’t be enough to beat me.”
Kelly’s response was brief.
“We’ll see.”
