Danny Dyer gives his thoughts on England at the World Cup, manager Thomas Tuchel, plus his team West Ham and Jarrod Bowen.
He spoke with reporter and commentator Ian Abrahams (Moose) at Hornchurch, who hosted a celebrity charity football game ‘MATCH FOR EMILEE’.
Danny answered a variety of questions as seen in the four minute long video interview below. On England at the World Cup, manager Thomas Tuchel, his team West Ham’s their chances in the Championship, and his son-in-law Jarrod Bowen, who missed out on the England squad, was relegated from the Premier League, and speculation on his future.

Ian Abrahams began: “England into the semi-finals. What are you making of it? I know Jarrod’s not there, but you’re still an England fan.”
Danny: “It’s been odd, you know, because I’m very close to it. It’s an emotional thing. I’ve had ups and downs, as you know, with Jarrod being captain of West Ham.
“I said this to Jarrod, he’s sort been part one of our best teams ever and one of our worst, really. Not his fault at all, he’s the one who’s carried us over the line, so him not being at the World Cup has been really difficult.
“He had a bad weekend, he got told he weren’t going, on the Thursday and then we relegated on the Sunday so it was a terrible, terrible weekend.
“So it took me a while just because, you know, he’s my son-in-law, to get into the England thing really.
“I’m still sort of struggling slightly with, you know, the whole German manager thing. If we had to do it again, I know whether it’s slightly tainted, but it’s the German that took us there and the last time we won we beat Germany.
“So look, we’re sort of dragging ourselves over the line at the moment, Bellingham come right to the front, you know, just scoring goals out of complete anger.
“But you know what we’re in the semis so still going so it’s exciting.”
Ian: “Do still look at the team and the performances and think actually Jarrod could have done a better job?
Danny: “I just think Saka is there and he hasn’t really started any games, he’s had three assists, but Madueke been starting games and just think, look good luck to this kid, I’ve got nothing against him, I think he’s definitely got a future ahead him.
“But for this moment you know Jarrod should have been man on the right if he’s going to start his decision making is second to none.
“You know, mean, alright, okay, he’s 29. But I just think that he’d been in every camp up to this point and I think it was a shock for all of us really, so it’s been hard.
“I just think he would have done a better job than Madueke really, but you know, we’re through with the semis, so it’s still happening. Let’s see what happens.”
Ian: “Argentina?”
Danny: “Well, it’s Messi, isn’t it? He’s the man, isn’t he?”
Ian: “Is he the governor?”
Danny: “Well, I think he is, yeah. I think the fact that he’s just so aware of what’s going on. It’s like he’s watching the game from the stands.
“So if we can stop him, which I feel is impossible, it’s going to be, well, it’s our first real test, isn’t it? We should be beating Norway. And we should have beat Mexico, as we did. Because as much as it’s the Aztec and all that, and know, the crowd behind em, you look at them and you go, well, who they got really, Mexico? So man for man, we should have won up to this point. We’ve had a good run.
“Do we beat Argentina, and we’re in the final. This is what he’s been brought in for, and he too. So you can’t be losing in the final because that’s what Southgate done. So it’s about getting us over the line.
“I think well we’d rather we play good football and lose or sort of football where you’re sort of struggling and you just make it happen. I think probably the latter. It just happens and you win it.”
Ian: “West Ham. First of all, confident you’re get promoted?”
Danny: “Absolutely. Again, it ain’t hit me yet. I think the season ended. And then the World Cup started.
“The fixture list come out the other day and I was having a look at it. First of all, I was looking at the Millwall game.”
Ian: “Looking forward to those?”
Danny: “It’s a reset, isn’t it? It’s a reset. The thing that hurts the most is obviously was down to us and Tottenham, of all clubs.
“Now, look, I’ve been a West Ham fan for most of my life, so I’m used to heartbreak. And I think you know yourself that we had a recent little run where we won a cup. And now it’s back to heartbreak again and relegation and it’s been 14 years since we were relegated.
“But you know like I don’t know what the expectations are of our club really I think we do need a change we do need a reset and we go again it’d be nice to see us win a few games I’ll tell you that now.”
Ian: “Finally if I’m allowed to ask you about Jarrod, as his father-in-law and as a West Ham fan how much are you invested in his future being what you want against what is probably best for the player?”
Danny: “Well look he’s a very great, loyal man and first and foremost he is my family, father of my grandchildren of course and it’s been tough for him.
“I mean he does deserve Champions League football and whatever decision he makes or made, I would have supported him, but I don’t think he’s going anywhere son and I think he will rip up the Championship, don’t you worry yourself about that.”
