Bayley responds to Lyra Valkyria’s betrayal on the July 6 episode of Raw.
It has been a few weeks now since Valkyria turned on Bayley in London. This took place after a tag team championship match in which the current champs, Brie Bella and Paige retained. Last week, a vignette aired with Valkyria telling her side of things, this week, Bayley broke her silence.
Bayley recalls Valkyria meeting her in a toy store as just a fan who informed her of her aspirations as a wrestlers. She says that this is where her respect and trust for her began and the foundation of what would become their friendship. Bayley was proud of Valkyria for becoming the first-ever Women’s Intercontinental Champion and standing beside her at WrestleMania.
Bayley starts to get emotional by saying that she never questioned her trust in Valkyria. Valkyria had helped her through one of the toughest years of her career and always supported her and lifted her up. However, Valkyria used this all against her and what Bayley can’t understand is why they couldn’t have had an honest conversation instead of what went down.
Next week, they will come face-to-face.
The WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion, Sol Ruca, had her second title defense since defeating Becky Lynch to become champion at the end of May. She took on Raquel Rodriguez who earned a shot at the title last week by defeating Maxxine Dupri.
The match itself was a well back and forth match until the Judgment Day made their way out. The combination of Roxanne Perez and the Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan tried to have Rodriguez steal a win here and win her first singles gold on the main roster. A very close three count almost had more gold for the Judgment Day had Ruca kick out at the last possible moment. This result had Morgan and Perez seething as Morgan’s SummerSlam opponent IYO SKY’s music hit.
SKY was behind Morgan and Perez in the time keeper’s area. She took out both women, allowing Ruca to regroup. She distracted Rodriguez who was met with a Sol Snatcher to give Ruca the victory and retain.
In a segment later on Perez said she would be taking on SKY next week.
