Alan Pardew claims Oliver Glasner and Evangelos Marinakis deserve eachother; Sean Dyche also gives his thoughts on the appointment.

Pardew made a dig at Glasner’s decision to go to Nottingham Forest while appearing on talkSPORT‘s Hawksbee and Jacobs show this week.

Glasner comes in to replace Vitor Pereira at the City Ground, becoming Forest’s fifth manager in the last 12 months having also been through the likes of Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou, including Dyche and Pereira.

🦅 “He doesn’t want to come back to Crystal Palace soon!”

Paul Hawksbee said: Oliver Glasner’s gone to Nottingham Forest, you never know quite what is going to happen with Mr Marinakis.”

Pardew: “Well, let me tell you he doesn’t want to come back to Crystal Palace soon.”

Andy Jacobs: “I’m just wondering, you’ve got a chairman like Marinakis, such a trigger happy reputation, do managers not think, or think I’ll be alright…”

Paul Hawksbee: “I’ll be the one he can’t sacked.”

Pardew: “Sean Dyche will probably tell you that. Listen, this guy [Glasner] – they deserve each other in my opinion.

“He [Marinakis] is trigger happy. This manager is volatile – he had volatile moments at Crystal Palace.

“He’s done an unbelievable job and, really, to do what he’s done – to go to a club that actually replaced Crystal Palace because they put in a heavy complaint about dual ownership and they dropped to the Conference.

“So there are big feelings about Nottingham Forest, and then where does he end up? Going and managing Nottingham Forest.

“You couldn’t make it up. I mean I’m astounded by his decision. But okay, good luck to him.”

Sean Dyche also gave his thoughts while on talkSPORT, saying: “Strange strange one, not a strange, good, manager. Nothing to do with that, you know, but just I think Pereira it’s you know because obviously we’re both around Nottingham well a lot apart from being down here working and stuff doing the media.

“The feeling was Pereira you know they wanted them but you know look it’s a strange situation then the fans wanted us in I think we did statistically did a good job that changed the feeling then they want us out and then that changes then they want Pereira comes in then they accepted that and he does a pretty good job and gets the the sort of end of the job done. And they want change and then then or sit. No, I don’t think they did.

“It just seems to be ticking over and then the the owners decided to change it. Again, you can look at it so many different ways.

“As you know, I’m not bitter about it because I think the world of Nottingham Forest particularly, you know, cause my past with them as a kid and all that. So, there’s no problem there for me to spoil speak openly about it.

“The way football’s going, it is more like this, you know, where owners or directors of football, they change things. They want to change things.

“The difference with this one is and what’s be interesting in Palace fans view because I think they’re great fans of Palace I must say that and, you know for Glasner to go there particularly you know there was all the kerfuffle you know over the Europe Europa League of course you got a bit of that in a way the history of Nottingham Forest is bigger but not recent times when you think Palace has been in the Premier League for a number of years is it 10, 11, 12 maybe on the trot.

“So I think originally the feeling is this I must make this clear only the feeling this not my exact opinion.

Oliver Glasner speaks for the first time on becoming Nottingham Forest’s new head coach

“I think the feeling was that Glasner was going to get a bigger club, you know maybe in Europe not just in the Premier League, you know across Europe maybe I know what you’re saying yeah that hasn’t quite come across or not at this moment.

“Forest is a big club and must be a clear inside Palace in their own rights as I’ve just suggested, but not the the superpower clubs which possibly thought he was going to get. Now they’ve attracted him. I can only imagine he must have got a very big offer.

“And I can only imagine from putting my manager’s hat on, not only that offer, but you’d go I’m not going to be on the turnaround. I’m not going to be on the revolving door.

“So therefore, not only a contract, but probably a contract with some big support in it, contractually as if to say, you know, I’m not coming in, you just get rid of me for whatever reason it might be.

“I don’t know, the fans get disgruntled or you just get rid of me or whatever it might be. Players in my case, you know, that kind of thing, it seems to me is going in there and and I would imagine again my management hat, he’s got that safeguarded on his contract, which that’s not doing anyone down.

“You know, I got on well with the owner, so there’s no problem there, which I can get, you know, he’s probably going, “Look, I need I need some stability to build it.”

“You know, to get hold of it, grip it, take it my my way. Now, the one thing I would say going on to the style, if you look at the Palace performances, and they’ve done it brilliantly well. Let’s remind everyone of that.

“You know, the successes they’ve had the last two seasons and Steve Parish deserves a lot of credit for that and people at the club, as well.

“But his his style that he’s done there says, does he do that at Forest? Because the demand at Forest was, you know, I had a bit of it myself. We’re not playing this way. We’re not playing that with the football’s this, football’s that.

“If you look at their successes, it hasn’t been 600 passes a game. Do you know what I mean? They found a way of operating often in that counterattack style, which I know Nuno did well and the Forest fans accepted that.

“When I was there, it was different. Pereira went in. They felt it said it was better football, but usually that implies winning, by the way. We’ve all been down that road. So, that’s going to be the biggest thing for me is what is he going to offer on the pitch?

“You know, I’m sure he’s a good operator. No question. He’s done a brilliant job at Palace. No question that either. But what are you literally going to get on the pitch? Not just results, what are you going to be looking at? I think that’s going to be really interesting to see what he’s going to put out there.

“Is he going to go the same format that he’s used at Palace, which has been mega successful for him relatively to the to the Premier League and the European they won the FA Cup.

“Incredible. Or are they going to go a completely different style, you know, and open up and make the pitch big and play what you’d call more, you know, let’s call it modern football or the right way as people, you know, phrase it.

“So, that’s going to be my biggest interest. But I do believe he’s a good operator. It’s just another turnaround situation. Football is going that way. Lots lot more short-term thinking.

“And I’m being open-minded about it. You know, I just want the best for Nottingham Forest as I do for all my ex-clubs.”

Here’s how fans reacted as Alan Pardew claims Glasner and Marinakis deserve eachother…

@GaryMarriott007: What a sour face knob Pardew is. Glasner is ambitious and will get backing from our owner. He made a call to clarify our position yet he still thinks that is the reason Palace got demoted rather than look at the mistakes made by Parish and co. I’d would expect more but I don’t.

@JPFORESTCATCHER: That is of course an outright lie about the complaint but don’t worry about that. If Pardews against it? It’ll most likely work out. Hes such an incompetent idiot, gets everything arseways

@Alitheeagle1: Most of us couldn’t really care less and respect that he couldn’t really turn down 13.5 million a year. Calm down super Al.

@SarcasticForest: Probably because, unlike Pardew, Glasner deals with facts and not slanderous accusations. Glasner will know that it was all Parish and Forest’s involvement was nonexistent.

@richpearson32: Another idiot who buys into Palace being hard done to by Forest 🙄

@warrenallsworth: Absolute garbage. Still peddling this myth that Forest were to blame for Palace cocking up. Facts: Nuno got himself sacked. Ange was a bad appointment. Dyches anti football & arrogance turned fans against him. Pereira only one unlucky but Glasner an upgrade.

@WARRIOR_1865: Bitter Alan Pardew should stick to bad adverts and read the CAS tribunal report, as his fantasy claims don’t match reality of what happened. #NFFC never complained, as #CPFC were already under UEFA investigation. Only ONE club broke the rules, and it was not NFFC

@JDunny1994: Good that’s just an outrageous lie from Pardew, why does him and some palace fans still think they was going to get away with the multi-ownership UEFA rule last season & using 1 season of our last 4 of the ‘trigger happy’, the underlying issue last season was Edu 😂😂
