Fabrizio Romano has dropped an interesting transfer exclusive this morning – all to do with a lesser known Chelsea talent.
The Italian transfer insider says that Everton are “set to sign” Chelsea academy player Arthur Barratt. A “fee is agreed” for a permanent transfer. The Toffees “see him as an important investment” as they look to improve their own academy and “secure young talents.”
Barratt ready for new challenge
Barratt is not one of the biggest names in our youth teams, but according to Romano there was “interest from several other Premier League clubs” in signing him.
The 16 year old has not yet signed a professional contract, so any fee agreed will just be compensation. The midfielder has shown tons of promise, and Chelsea won’t be happy about losing him. However, as we all know, Cobham pours out brilliant youngsters constantly, and there will no doubt be another player stepping into Barratt’s place before long.
Clearly Everton have offered the teenager a clearer route to the first team, and you’ve got to respect him taking decisions for the good of his career, as tough as it is for Chelsea.
