Paul Heyman Reveals Scrapped WrestleMania 42 Main Event Plans

Paul Heyman pulled back the curtain on how much WrestleMania 42 plans changed behind the scenes, revealing that multiple main event ideas fell apart before the final card came together.

During a conversation with his son on Instagram, Heyman admitted he was frustrated about not being part of WrestleMania’s main event this year. He made it clear that earlier plans looked very different before injuries and other factors forced WWE to change direction more than once. Heyman explained that one of the original plans centered around Seth Rollins facing Roman Reigns, but that matchup didn’t make it to the finish line.

“Yeah, it pisses me off. I don’t think it’s a big secret that everything was driving this year to be Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns, and then that fell apart.”

After that plan collapsed, another major match was reportedly lined up, but that one also didn’t survive the constant changes.

“Then it was going to be Bron Breakker vs. CM Punk, and that fell apart. I was in line to be part of the main event this year, but fate intervened not once but even twice.”

Heyman didn’t hide the fact that missing out on the main event bothered him, but he still pointed to another match he personally sees as the biggest one on the card—even if history won’t officially label it that way.

“I’d be less than candid if I didn’t admit that I take great pride in the fact that the most heavily anticipated match this year is what I call the real main event of WrestleMania: Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi, but history won’t record that as the main event.”

Injuries played a major role in the shakeups Heyman referenced. Seth Rollins dealt with injury issues but managed to return on the road to WrestleMania, while Bron Breakker has been rumored to be medically cleared despite not appearing on television yet.

Hearing Heyman openly talk about multiple scrapped WrestleMania main events gives fans a rare look at how chaotic the planning process can become when injuries and unexpected changes hit at the worst possible time.

Do you think Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns should have been the WrestleMania 42 main event, or does Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi deserve that spotlight instead? Let us know what you think.
