Given that Virgil van Dijk is likely to leave at the end of his own current deal next summer, Liverpool are facing the prospect of a major defensive rebuild.
As a result, they’ve shifted their focus towards a Juventus star. According to Tutto Juve, Liverpool are ready to launch a serious offer to sign Kalulu from the Italian giants in an attempt to solve their centre-back problem.
Although Juventus have once again failed to hit their previous heights this season, Kalulu has done enough to get on Liverpool’s radar. The central defender has even emerged as one of the Reds’ top targets, highlighting just how much they rate the 25-year-old.
Whether their interest in Kalulu is enough to drop a hint over Konate’s future is the big question. The Frenchman has endured a disappointing campaign and may find himself replaced before he can even put pen to paper at Anfield.
Kalulu could end Konate’s Liverpool career
With Jeremy Jacquet already on the way and Kalulu potentially arriving, it could be bad news for Konate if he stays at Anfield. In the space of 12 months, he could go from a player on Madrid’s radar to a star forced to watch on from Liverpool’s bench.

Dubbed “phenomenal” by talent scout Jacek Kulig, Kalulu is certainly the right profile to replace Konate. He’s just as talented off the ball, but has that extra mobility – something Konate has lacked at times.
As the Liverpool defender continues to run down his contract, those at Anfield should act with ruthlessness and sign a player ready to star on the big stage in Kalulu.
On paper, centre-back depth which includes the Juventus star, Van Dijk and Jacquet would be incredibly solid for Slot to turn to in the near future. Now it’s up to the Reds to make an official move.
