WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes recently shared a funny late-night story involving John Cena and a McDonald’s McFlurry during their early days together in WWE.
Rhodes said John Cena helped mentor him early in his wrestling career. He revealed that they spent a lot of time traveling together between shows. During those long drives, Rhodes learned many things from Cena.
He picked up knowledge about wrestling, business, marketing, and performing. Rhodes credited the WWE veteran for helping him grow in the industry. During one of those late-night trips, Cena apparently found a way to get a McFlurry even after McDonald’s employees claimed the ice cream machine was unavailable.

During an appearance on SPORTBible’s YouTube series Snack Wars in 2024, Cody Rhodes talked about different American and British foods before sharing the story involving Cena and McDonald’s.
When presented with a bacon roll and brown sauce, Rhodes admitted he had never tried it before. He defended McDonald’s and joked that he would never tolerate criticism toward the restaurant chain.
He then remembered one late-night trip with John Cena when they stopped at McDonald’s around 2 a.m. hoping to get McFlurries.
“McDonald’s is there late at night. One time, John Cena, me and John, 2 am at McDonald’s. They always hit you with the same thing, ‘Hey, ice cream machine is down. We can’t make the McFlurry.’ ‘Really? You can’t make the McFlurry? What if I give you a $100 bill.’ This is John. in the moment, they turned that thing on. McFlurry was right there for him.”
