Wimbledon 2024 LIVE: Tennis scores as Jasmine Paolini faces Barbora Krejcikova in women’s final after Novak Djokovic booed again

Emotional scenes as Barbora Krejcikova makes the iconic climb up to the players’ box to celebrate with her team.

The 28-year-old wins her second grand slam title, after the French Open in 2021, but winning Wimbledon is special and the Czech may have thought her chance had gone after a couple of difficult years due to injury and illness.

The 28-year-old becomes the second Czech player in as many years to win the Venus Rosewater Dish after Marketa Vondrousova’s victory last year. Krejcikova, the 31st seed, was an unexpected finalist but produced a dominant display in the deciding set to add to her French Open title in 2021. Krejcikova had to save two break points in the final game, before serving out with her third Championship point.

Paolini battled back to force the third set after a one-sided start, but was unable to complete the comeback and gave away the decisive break with a double fault in the third. The seventh seed, who was bidding to became the first player from Italy to win the women’s title, was also beaten in the French Open final last month but can still take pride at her breakthrough year.
