Wimbledon 2024 LIVE: Tennis scores as Emma Raducanu calls physio after slip in third set against Lulu Sun after Andy Murray decision

Raducanu digs out a gorgeous backhand winner down the line but Sun says anything you can do, I can do better, and crunches a clean cross-court forehand winner for 30-30.

Now a backhand winner on the return of serve and it’s a break point for the New Zealander. Needless to say, Raducanu can’t afford to be broken again… And she gets away with it! Sun sets the point up perfectly but then goes long with potentially the winning forehand! Break point saved but Raducanu squanders a couple of game points that come her way.

Now a second break point for Sun and oh dear, oh dear. It’s a double fault. Horrible way to hand Sun the double break and this Wimbledon campaign is all but over for Emma Raducanu.

The New Zealander fights back and puts away an overhead smash for 30-30 before a big serve sets her up to hold which she takes when firing a forehand at Raducanu at the net, who can’t find the volley. That was a great response to a potentially dangerous situation. Two more holds needed…

Raducanu loops up a tempting half-court moon ball but Sun can only smash it into the bottom of the net. She’s rightly annoyed with herself there.

A solid hold to 15 for the Brit, finished with a half-court forehand put away. Three chances left for Raducanu to break the Sun serve and save this match.

Oof! Sun crushes a backhand winner down the line to open up the game but Raducanu dominates the next two longer rallies, eventually forcing the New Zealander to drift long, and the Brit has a sniff at 15-30.

But Sun dictates the next few points, stepping in behind big first serves to repel any danger and Raducanu sends a forehand long to see the chance slip away. Good hold.

Sun is shining now! A gorgeous forehand winner makes it 15-30, her depth of groundstrokes so far today has been immense. To her credit, Raducanu digs deep though and wins the next two points to put her on the brink of a vital hold, which is sealed with an ace down the ‘t’.

Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz remain on course for a scintillating semi-final showdown at Wimbledon but the Italian will be happier with his work on the middle Sunday at SW19 as the pair moved just one step away from renewing a rivalry that could well define the next decade of men’s tennis.

While Alcaraz was toiling away on Centre Court, being pushed by the relentless Ugo Humbert before escaping with a four-set win, Sinner was swatting away a potentially dangerous foe in Ben Shelton on Court 1 with remarkable ruthlessness.

Shelton has arguably been the busiest man at Wimbledon this week, with his first three matches in the men’s singles draw all going to five sets, while he has also been playing doubles alongside Mackenzie McDonald. The 21-year-old American, who burst on to the scene with his run to the semi-finals at last year’s US Open, is a ball of energy around the court and showed no ill effects from his punishing schedule but Sinner largely outclassed him in a 6-2, 6-4, 7-6 (11-9) win that took just over two hours.

That’s a promising sign. An ace off the first point out of the medical timeout to make it 30-30! But Sun hits back with a lovely put-away volley to bring up a break point!

Raducanu moved about the court and eventually nets, so LULU SUN HAS A BREAK OF SERVE in the first game of the decider. Raducanu’s movement didn’t seem too impeded at least.

This is really not looking good for Raducanu. After receiving the back massage on the floor, she gingerly gets to her feet and sits in her chair, where the physio manipulates her body from side to side to try and loosen it up.
