Moyes blocked from Ward-Prowse
Duncan Castles: West Ham United boss David Moyes has been blocked in his attempts to sign Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse.
West Ham’s new technical director Tim Steidten has pushed back Moyes’ pursuit of the midfielder and is now looking at cheaper alternatives.
The Irons boss has been left ‘bemused’ by the recruitment strategy after leading the club to its first piece of major silverware last season since 1980.
The east Londoners’ latest offer worth £30m for the Saints skipper was rejected by the Championship club, who are demanding £40m for their academy graduate.
Southampton are adamant that they won’t be offering discounts for any of their players, even with them being in the second tier.
The Hammers are the only club in the Premier League yet to make a signing this summer and tension appears to be growing between Moyes and his new technical director.
Hammers to bid for Šutalo
TuttoMercatoWeb (via Fiorentina News): West Ham are ‘ready to put €20m’ down in order to sign Dinamo Zagreb centre-back Josip Šutalo.
As relayed by Sport Witness, TuttoMercatoWeb director Niccolo Ceccarini namechecked the Hammers alongside three other high-profile clubs when speaking to Radio Toscana about the potential transfer of the Croatia international.
Ceccarini said: “For Sutalo there are four clubs ready to put at least €20m for the player. From Leipzig, to Arsenal, West Ham and Ajax.”
The 23-year-old made 36 appearances across all competitions for Zagreb last term, scoring three goals, helping his side win the Croatian title.
The Hammers are known to be in the market for a centre-back and have tested Manchester United’s resolve with a £20m bid for Harry Maguire, although that bid was ultimately rejected.

West Ham reject Scamacca offer
Tom Collomosse: West Ham have rejected a £25m bid from Inter for striker Gianluca Scamacca.
West Ham paid £35m for the Italian forward last summer and are thought to be demanding a fee close to that figure.
Since arriving in England from Serie A outfit Sassuolo, Scamacca has struggled to replicate the form which earned him the move initially.
The 24-year-old netted eight times across all competitions last term, with only three of those being league goals.

Hammers want United pair
Sky Sports: West Ham have held talks with Manchester United about possibly signing both Scott McTominay and Harry Maguire. This one won’t be straightforward, however, as the valuations put on the players are quite high.
United view them as first-team players, and thus won’t allow them to leave on the cheap. West Ham, though, understand that both are available for sale – something that should surely drop their prices.
Talks are only at an early stage, then. Expect to hear more on this one over the next few weeks as West Ham continue their rebuild.
