A Twitter user causes a stir after criticising Braintree Town for the ‘messy’ state of the away dressing room at their opponents on Saturday.
The National League South club travelled to Southern League Premier Division Central club Needham Market at the weekend, but after Braintree lost 1-0, they were also told off via social media for a different reason.
ken (aka @ken47504678), wrote: “Braintree this is not how to leave a dressing room,” with the tweet getting over 270,000 views, along with nearly 100 comments and 400 likes.
Angelo Harrop, the Braintree manager, said: “Can only apologise this will not happen again. Sorry guys. Not good enough from us. I take full responsibility”
But many Twitter users seeing the photo for the first time, claimed they had seen worse and messier dressing rooms, some saying instead of wasting time complaining online, he should just get on with cleaning it.
Nonetheless, any mess left behind it still bad, but it this worthy of naming and shaming?

As mentioned, the Twitter user causes a stir after criticising Braintree for a ‘messy’ state of the dressing room…
@george_whitelaw: Get it brushed up Ken and move on pal
@MHKreissl: You can often judge the attitude of those associated with a club by the way they leave a dressing room.
@44Djt: It really isn’t that bad. There’s no obligation on the away team to sweep the floor is there. Could they have gone and found a broom maybe, is it easy enough to clear up absolutely. Worth calling out definitely not.
@joteddyuk: Not ideal but don’t really fel it warrants the shaming on twitter. 5 minute job to sweep that up and I assume you have cleaners as well?
@gleeson711: While I appreciate its polite etc to keep things clean… I’ve seen a whole lot worse! I mean come on let’s get a grip nobody is assigned to clean the dressing room as an away team! Let’s just grab a broom and sweep it up 👍
@DT88362644: There’s no obligation but it’s a show of respect and especially if you’ve just lost a game . Leave it as you find it because it’ll probably be a volunteer sorting out the mess. This one isn’t that bad at all but it happens. Nothing daft about it. Just a show of respect
@GregJTaylor86: Bin looks full tbf
@youngy0102: Its probably players who are mainly commenting about moving on, its no big deal, took longer to take the photo etc which sums up the disregard that many have for volunteers at their own clubs let alone others. Fair play to the guy who owned it and will improve in the future 👏
@SamuelJ40630175: Talk about making a fuss over nothing
@owenncfc01: Check if your bollocks are still in tact… Clearly been an effort made to tidy, and yes it’s a nice thing to do but they didn’t even have to do that! Odd bit of grass on floor and it’s a meltdown, your club not paid people in post to sort this out?
@Wellsy_OX: Oh god it’s started already 😅
@EhRetroKits: Is this even that bad? Literally 3 sweeps and it’s gone.
@JME_FM: Sacrificed a clean dressing room. For a spare roll of tape? Like gold dust thst shit. In all seriousness. This is disgusting.
@TheManor_FC: One fart and that’s clear you wet wipe
@Tommygunn2211: Get a broom and sweep it up .. will take 2 mins mate, quicker than taking a photo and posting it on here
@NCritic: Talk about arrogant….. this is why people generally don’t like Needham as a club, get off your high horse you 🤡 it’s actually half decent they haven’t left rubbish everywhere, mud all up walks etc.
also, what are you hoping to achieve by sending this? Take the W and 🤫
@DSPhilpott: Most ridiculous thing in football. You don’t have to sweep the changing room as an away side. Some do some don’t this is so boring
@tysoe7: This is getting silly now. Agree don’t leave it in a state but that’s just abit of grass and some bottles. Do you get guests to whip the hoover round when they come to your house? Be wanting players to paint the walls next. Get over yourselves
@CaptainSensibl6: Oh for Gods sake. It’s a bit of tape and the odd can and plastic bottle. Just grab a brush and thank your lucky stars they haven’t kicked the door off it’s hinges and shat in the showers.
@sjcc1888: No association to Braintree whatsoever but fuck me it would take longer to take this pic than to sweep this up.
@Simonbeardsell3: That’s not that bad to be fair 😂
@LeeRyan2k22: Do you have a link for the GoFundMe?
@Pete_Ash2: Nothing a brush won’t sort out in about 3 min. Suck it up 👍🏼⚽️
@jamiebarlow1993: Bit of tape will take longer to take the picture and post it then clean it
@IanMill48823752: Is it really that bad 🤦🏻♂️
@LTorzBrown: Checks their last result to see if they lost…. Yep SHOCK. Typical behaviour and it’s a shame because not all clubs behave like that after a defeat but this pic here says a 1000 words to all of us 🔥🔥🔥🔥👀👀👀
@PureFootball19: Whilst there had been massive down pours of rain and 15 players + staff using those facilities that’s not bad at all
@markgards: Some interesting replies here. I imagine by players that turn up to play at their respective clubs that have one guy who will stay behind and sweep the changing room who never takes any credit.
You know who to call 😉⚒️ pic.twitter.com/1d6oY8gALI
