Tributes have been paid by fans as ex-Coventry and Wolves player Cedric Roussel dies age 45, confirmed by Standard Liege.
Cedric Roussel played as a forward, starting his professional playing career in 1997 with Gent and later joined then-Premier League club Coventry City in 1999.
Despite initial success, he struggled with injuries and was eventually sold to Wolverhampton Wanderers, and went on to make appearances for various other clubs, including Mons, Genk, Rubin Kazan, Standard Liège, Zulte Waregem, Brescia, and HSV Hoek, before retiring in 2015.
Roussel made his first appearance for the Belgium national team in 2003, and after retiring, he started a career in real estate.
sudinfo.be report Roussel collapsed at the No Maison café on the Grand’Place in Mons and couldn’t be revived.
While a waiter was giving him a cardiac massage, emergency services were called, before taking over resuscitation for about twenty minutes, but their efforts were in vain.
RIP Cédric Roussel 💫
