Cardiff near decision on Dai Young’s future

An announcement on the future of Cardiff director of rugby Dai Young is imminent.

The decision was made to suspend the former Wales prop for “unforeseen circumstances” at a board meeting on Thursday, April 20. Since then Young has been the subject of an internal enquiry after a number of complaints were made by employees against the three times British & Irish Lions tourist.

Young is currently on gardening leave but WalesOnline understands a decision on his future is imminent. Cardiff are in desperate need of a new coaching team after defence coach Richard Hodges left for Zebre and forwards guru Rhys Thomas signed for Gloucester.

This leaves Matt Sherratt and former Wales scrum-half Richie Rees as the only senior coaches at the club.

Wales prop signs for French giants

Wales international WillGriff John has signed with French giants Racing 92 as a medical joker.

The 30-year-old tighthead, who has won two caps for Wales, got released by the Scarlets at the end of the season but has now picked up a contract with one of the wealthiest clubs in the game as injury cover until the end of the World Cup. John hasn’t played for Wales since their victory over Fiji at the Principality Stadium in November 2020 but will be hoping his move to Paris can catapult him back into contention.
