Football FanCast updates you with all the latest Liverpool transfer news and gossip ahead of the fast-approaching Premier League season beginning in the second week of August.
Jürgen Klopp will be eager to bolster his squad after a disappointing campaign last term, which saw the Reds miss out on the top four for the first time since 2015/16.
Liverpool consider Lavia
Daily Mail: Liverpool have joined the race for Southampton midfielder Roméo Lavia.
The Merseyside club have asked about the conditions of the deal, however, they face stiff competition from Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal.
The 19-year-old made 29 appearances in the Premier League last season following a £10.5m move from Manchester City in the summer.
The Citizens have a £40m buy-back clause, but it does not become valid until 2024, so clubs will be keen to secure a deal this summer for the sought-after Belgium international.
Reds showing ‘strong’ interest in Doku
GFFN (via Daily Mail): Liverpool are showing a strong interest in Rennes winger Jérémy Doku.
Doku, 21, netted seven times last season whilst laying on four assists in 35 appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit. Despite his age, the Belgium international has been capped 14 times at senior level, scoring in wins over Iceland and Belarus.
A deal to bring the youngster to Anfield is said to be in the works, but it’s not done yet.
Liverpool closing in on Thuram
Football Insider: Liverpool are expected to agree a deal for Nice midfielder Khéphren Thuram.
The 22-year-old wants the move and the Merseyside club are pushing hard to finalise a deal, with a full agreement now expected.
Thuram, who typically operates as a defensive midfielder, made 48 appearances for Nice last term, scoring two goals whilst providing eight assists.
His performances caught the eye of Newcastle United, but the Reds appear to be winning the race for the France international.
