Neymar has opened the door to a move to Inter Miami by suggesting he would like to revive his partnership with former Barcelona team-mates Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

Neymar’s contract with Saudi Pro League champions Al-Hilal expires in June, with injuries limiting the Brazilian to just seven outings since he joined the club in 2023.

He will turn 33 in February and MLS has been mooted as a possible next step, with Supporters’ Shield holders Miami reportedly keen to reform one of the most revered attacking trios in European football history.

Neymar, Messi and Suarez played together for three years with Barcelona from 2014 – when the latter arrived from Liverpool – until 2017, when Neymar left for Paris Saint-Germain.

During those three seasons (2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17), Messi (153), Suarez (121) and Neymar (90) plundered 364 goals across all competitions.

Messi registered a total of 219 goal involvements, with Suarez adding 180 and Neymar 138 for a remarkable total of 537 direct goal involvements from the trio.

In that time, Barcelona won LaLiga twice and the Copa del Rey three times, also lifting the Champions League, Club World Cup and Supercopa de Espana trophies once apiece.

The ‘MSN’ partnership could yet be revived, with Neymar not closing the door on a potential move to Miami – where Messi and Suarez are both under contract until at least the end of the 2025 campaign.

“Obviously, playing again with Messi and Suarez would be incredible,” he told CNN Sport. “They are my friends. We still speak to each other. It would be interesting to revive this trio.

“I’m happy at Al-Hilal, I’m happy in Saudi Arabia, but who knows? Football is full of surprises.

“When the news came out that I was leaving Paris Saint-Germain, the transfer window was closed in the United States, so I didn’t have this option.

“The project they offered me was very good, not just for me but also for my family, so going to Saudi Arabia was the best option.”

Neymar will hope to be in the United States for the World Cup next year, as he bids to end Brazil’s long wait to lift the trophy for a sixth time.

The Selecao are toiling in fifth place in the CONMEBOL qualification group, but Neymar – who has eight goals in 13 World Cup appearances – has faith in their new-look team.

“I will try. I want to be there. I will do everything I can to be part of the national team,” Neymar said of the 2026 World Cup.

“I know this will be my last World Cup, my last shot, my last chance and I will do everything I can to play in it.

“I have a lot of faith in the team, in the players who are emerging, who are young. It’s a young team. Today, we’re not in a position where we would like to be.

“I think together we can achieve something very big. We have a year, a year-and-a-half, to work, to do the right things to reach the World Cup.”
