A new video and a number of photos surface showing Everton’s new stadium making impressive progress as work continues on it.

The site at Bramley-Moore Dock is coming along nicely ahead of their final season at Goodison Park with the Merseyside’s new home set hold an estimated 53,000 supporters.

This is 12,000 more than they can currently have at Goodison. Sean Dyche’s side will now look to secure Premier League football at the new location after finishing just two points above the relegation zone.

Dan Meis, the architect behind Everton’s new stadium spoke on his creation: “It starts as a very personal exercise, obviously some scribbling on a napkin and then blowing that into bigger drawings and models and things to talk to the club.

“And then a few years later, it really is right there. And obviously it takes thousands of people ultimately to come together to make it happen.

“So for me, it eventually feels kind of magical because I don’t see all of that happen. And there’s so much about it that’s so complex that even I don’t understand it.

“So it’s really just amazing to see it and they’re doing such a great job and it seems like it’s happening so fast.

Sky reporter: “And you mentioned a napkin there and that really was the truth, wasn’t it, was on a napkin, you scribbled something down.”

Dan continues: “Yeah, it often happens that way because you’ll go to a meeting and maybe we’ll show reference images or talk about other stadiums as references, and then I end up in the airport or on the plane thinking about it.

“And so I put down an idea and sometimes I explain this, often it’s not what I’m trying to draw, it’s what I see out of the corner of my eye that all of a sudden becomes a little bit of an idea, and then I try and draw that and pulls it out.

“And this was a great example of particularly once we started to focus on the dock, there was this idea of, do we make it feel like it grew out of the dock?

“That in one sense it was always here, but yet it was very much something of the future. And so that really kind of came out of those early sketches.”

Sky reporter: “And then, of course, you look at the sort of emotional side of things and you look at Goodison Park and you have 100 years of history behind the football club as well, which you have to, I guess, try and incorporate in that.”

Dan: “Yeah, it’s interesting.I like to think that being an American was helpful in that way, because I didn’t have any presupposition about what had to be done or that I was going to bring some American like stadium here.

“I was very passionate about the history of English football and Goodison one of the best examples of what true English football was about.

“Stadiums like that, they weren’t dropped onto a site, they grew up. Over time, there was a pitch with a stand and then that stand grew.

“And as the club became more popular, stadiums just kind of emerged, sometimes different architects, different engineers.

“So the true traditional English football stadiums all had kind of a quirkiness about them that really made them unique to where they were, and not only the fan base, but the neighbourhoods that they grew out of.

“So for an American, for me, it felt like I had to understand that before I drew a single line, and ultimately that influenced us all the way through.”

Here’s what fans said as a new video surfaces showing Everton’s new stadium making impressive progress…

@Kleary04: Buzzing, be ready just in time to start the championship campaign next season

@MattWCCFC: Any chance we can still throw up just one beam to obstruct the view to keep the feel of Goodison alive? Asking for a friend 😂

@lewisroyden: Wow, okay, this is the first time I’ve felt a bit of excitement. Like everybody I’m extremely attached to Goodison but I don’t want to leave… praying that our new home lives up to all your intentions, cos it talks a good game this place.

@cjhancock21: We’re you impressed with how things are looking? It must be amazing to witness one of you ideas/diagrams become a actual real fife 3D form.

@jameswf75: Just wow, I cannot wait for the first match in what is going to be an incredible stadium and atmosphere 💙

@georgednn: Had the pleasure of going to site and walking around. It feels closed in and tight… Can’t wait to be in there and witness a full Everton crowd!

@bpleasant_efc: This is the closest seat at West Ham

@FPLGwladys: Amazing job Dan. The legacy of this stadium is going to be tremendous. UTFT 💙💙💙

@Matt_Rayner1878: Looks amazing you have done some outstanding work in designing BM #NSNO 👏🏼👏🏼🏟

@pjneedham40: My mum currently sits in pretty much the furthest seat from the pitch at Goodison. Good to know, somehow, at worst she’ll now be closer to the pitch, even in a bigger stadium!

@UtdSaiyan: To think they almost got relegated

@RaymonBluington: Not only are you responsible for the most impressive architecture being built in the UK right now (imo) but there are fans who have long sat behind concrete columns who will get their full eyesight back. So it’s something of a miracle in both respects! Thanks Dan 👍💙

@bluetoffee9: Thank you Dan. Thought leaving Goodison would be a wrench but I’m really excited to be honest.

@111O1O1O11O: Look at the rake of the stands! First time it’s been really noticeable. Every seat in the house is going to feel like you’re in something as steep as the Top Balcony! Geez 😍💙

@HowieC63: 👍🏻 cheers @Meisarch 👏🏻 This historic move & build is on course to follow the essence of #NSNO. GR8 to know your one of us. Trust us the fans to justify your design – especially its 🤞🏻 amazing acoustics. 👍🏻💙😎

@seandavis90: Love it! Can’t wait

@stevietoffee: Looks fantastic Dan, will there be any lighting within the the roof trusses like they have at the Allianz in bayern?

@win_n10: There is not a lot to be happy about with Everton right now so thank you for this. A distinctive, visually engaging, individually tailored and memorable stadium design for a special location and our uniquely frustrating football club A reminder to our Board and our fans #NSNO

@Toffybolox: Hopefully the seats are a little wider than at Goodison

@kieronhynes: Could be the one thing in my lifetime that they have actually got right.
