Liv Morgan shares how an injury helped her get a full-fledged character in WWE.
Former WWE Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan was a recent guest on Stephanie McMahon’s What’s Your Story podcast. During the conversation, Morgan recounted her early days in the company when she felt she lacked the purpose and character to help her reach the next level.
She said the shoulder injury she sustained at the hands of Rhea Ripley in July 2023, and the subsequent six-month hiatus, helped her put things into perspective and discover the right character for when she returned.
“I feel like throughout my whole career, up until maybe like 2024/2023, I felt like if I was lacking one thing, it might’ve been a character. I felt like I had all the tools, but if you were to ask someone who Liv Morgan was, you might’ve gotten different answers.
The Injury Helped Liv Morgan Find Purpose
“But it wasn’t until I had my first shoulder injury, where Rhea (Ripley) injured my shoulder, and I had six months off to really sit and formulate what do I wanna come back to. It just popped in my head, ‘You’re gonna come back, and you’re gonna come for everything that Rhea has. It’s like your revenge tour.’ And then the Liv Morgan revenge tour popped into my head, and I suddenly had a purpose.
“So, having a concrete purpose, like she injured me, and the one thing that I love for me, which is wrestling, I’m gonna come back and take everything that she loves. So, it just happened like that, but for the first time, I felt I had a full-fledged identity, a character that I could sink my teeth into, because I knew the goal. I had my why. It took me a long time, but I found it,” Liv Morgan said.
