If I Signed There, They’d Be Wanking Into Tissues Over Me

Will Ospreay isn’t holding back when it comes to WWE fans who criticize him, and he made that very clear in a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet on Insight.

The AEW star, who was once courted by both WWE and AEW before ultimately signing with Tony Khan’s company at Full Gear 2023, believes the reaction to him would be completely different if he had chosen WWE.

“No, but if I had gone there, they’d be fucking wanking into tissues over me,” Ospreay said bluntly. He went on to explain that wrestling fandom is deeply divided, but he refuses to let criticism get under his skin. “You have to separate it, otherwise you drive yourself insane. Wrestling is my passion and my job. If you have something that you are passionate about, you really don’t care what people are saying who have never impacted your career in your entire life.”

Ospreay acknowledged that AEW isn’t perfect, but he also pointed out that the company is thriving. “Even if they say something, they’re not impacting our show, the second most profitable wrestling company of all time. That’s not talked about enough and everyone wants to dig at it.”

The former two-time AEW International Champion, who recently competed at AEW Revolution inside a steel cage against Kyle Fletcher, also admitted that while he’s open to constructive criticism, most of what he sees online isn’t worth his time. “If you give me criticism and points that I can work on, then I’ll try my best to work on it. I’m not going to get it right away, but I think that’s the stuff people need to speak more about.”

Ospreay’s unapologetic approach has made him one of the most talked-about names in wrestling today, and he’s clearly not losing sleep over WWE loyalists who don’t appreciate his work.

Would Ospreay be viewed differently if he signed with WWE, or is he better off in AEW? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
