Finn Balor made a timely — and costly — return on the March 23 episode of WWE RAW in Boston, inserting himself into the Intercontinental Championship picture just as Dominik Mysterio looked ready to capitalize.
The title bout between Dominik and champion Penta was already chaotic, with interference and momentum swings shaping the match.
However, just as things seemed to tilt in Dominik’s favor, the night took a sharp turn that changed everything.

Dominik came out aggressively, attacking Penta before the bell and controlling large portions of the match.
Even after a fast-paced exchange that included dives, counters, and nearfalls, the challenger stayed one step ahead, aided briefly by JD McDonagh’s interference.
As Dominik lined up for a 619 and climbed to the top rope for a frog splash, Balor’s music hit. The distraction was enough to break Dominik’s focus — a classic case of “too many cooks in the Judgment Day kitchen.”
Penta seized the opening, countering the frog splash attempt into a quick roll-up to retain the Intercontinental Championship. It was a blink-and-you-miss-it finish, but one that left Dominik empty-handed once again.
Balor didn’t stop at the distraction. After the bell, he entered the ring and attacked Dominik with a Sling Blade and shotgun dropkick.
When McDonagh tried to intervene, Balor took out both men, including a high-risk dive over the top rope that left the former faction reeling.
This return continues the fallout from earlier in the month, when Balor was ousted from The Judgment Day after tensions with Dominik escalated. Notably, Balor had previously refused to help Dominik cheat in a prior title match, planting the seeds for this split.
With WrestleMania 42 approaching, the issue between Balor and Dominik now looks far from settled. If this was the opening salvo, the real fight may still be waiting in the wings — or perhaps in the Demon’s shadow.
