Charlotte Flair has built an incredible legacy in WWE as one of the greatest female professional wrestlers to ever grace the squared circle. However, it appears she almost quit professional wrestling once until a former WWE star convinced her to stay with the industry.

While speaking on his Eugene Behind the Scenes YouTube channel, former WWE Superstar Eugene revealed that Charlotte Flair considered leaving the business early in her career. As a coach at the WWE Performance Center, Eugene recalled seeing Flair looking discouraged and lacking confidence during a class. He decided to give her a pep talk.

Flair later told him that she had been struggling at the time and was thinking about quitting, but his words of encouragement convinced her to stay. Eugene praised her athletic background as a former college volleyball player and noted that she had always been one of the best athletes in the division.

“After class one day at the Performance Center, a particular talent came to me and I could tell this particular talent was a little distraught down the dumps, maybe lacking in confidence. And me being the coach that always wants to lift people up, I thought I should give a little bit of inspiration to this particular talent. That WWE champion and future WWE Hall of Famer was none other than Charlotte Flair. I simply said, ‘Oh no, you’re good. You’re gonna be really good. I mean, you are really good.’ Because I feel like she was one of the best athletes of the girls there, if not the best.

She was a college volleyball player. I mean, a phenomenal athlete, strong, big. And she didn’t tell me until much later that she was thinking about quitting and she was going through a tough time at that point and she told me that those word of encouragement that I gave her, just to simply tell her that she’s going to be good, and she has been, she is, just those simple words that I gave her kinda kept her in the wrestling business.”

Flair joined WWE in 2012 and spent two years in NXT before making her main roster debut. Since then, she has become one of the greatest female superstars in WWE history, winning 14 Women’s World Championships.

Fans are certainly relieved Charlotte Flair decided to remain in the world of professional wrestling and credit Eugene for ensuring she never quit. As for Flair’s current direction in WWE, she will be feuding with Tiffany Stratton for the WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 41, so we’ll have to wait and see how the match will turn out in April.
