Edinburgh AC celebrate U13 Girls team success and it was a good day, too, for Giffnock North and Harmeny AC

When Edinburgh AC returned to their spiritual home at Meadowbank Stadium a couple of years ago there was a sense of relief for all involved.
The impact of being venue nomads – albeit temporarily – had an effect and club office-bearers quietly hoped a return would help competitive performance.
Was the first evidence of that apparent in the junior races at the Lindsays National XC?
It felt that way at Falkirk as Edinburgh AC began to, well, encroach on what has recently been Giffnock’s domain (the team podium!!).
Strong performances in a club sense from the likes of Falkirk Victoria and Harmeny were a credit to those clubs while Lasswade AC continue to flourish in proportion.
Edinburgh won golds at U13 Girls and U17 Women level and had two sets of silvers as well at U13 Boys and U15 Boys.
Interestingly, Edinburgh achieved that team success with only one athlete on the individual podiums – so their depth was effective.
As Edinburgh AC coach Eric Fisher told us: ‘I love the National XC because it is always great to see so many kids out there racing.
‘The cross country season can be the basis for so much more over the year and the atmosphere at Falkirk always makes it a highlight.
‘Well done to every athlete, and their coaches and clubs, who raced at U17, U15 and U13 level today. I think they are all champions.’
