CM Punk has declared for the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble.

Punk announced the news in a post-show promo at the WWE RAW on Netflix premiere. He made it clear that he wanted to win gold, and he said that the Royal Rumble was next on his list.

At the WWE RAW on Netflix premiere, John Cena also declared for the Royal Rumble match.

Punk competed in the 2024 Royal Rumble match after he returned to WWE at WWE Survivor Series 2023. During the match, he suffered a torn triceps that sidelined him until WWE SummerSlam.

CM Punk Reflects On His Injury

Punk recently looked back on tearing his triceps during the Royal Rumble match in 2024 during an appearance on Nightcap.

“Oh man, this one was— I think this one was pretty bad, just because of, you know, my age and everything. I tore my right tricep tendon completely off the bone, and that’s a bad one. Especially in football, I think that’s normally a career-ender, if I’m not mistaken. My season definitely ended that day, that’s for certain.”

“I had a night where I went, ‘Woe is me,’ and I cried about it.” CM Punk said. “I was upset. I had just come back to WWE after 10 years of being gone and was looking forward to doing, you know, just awesome, awesome stuff. And then it all came to a screeching halt.”

“As an athlete, as somebody who’s active every day—you guys know—if you can’t play, if you can’t do what you do, if you can’t go to the gym, you lose your mind. And man, I lost my mind. I felt bad about it for about eight minutes, had a cry, and then realized that, at that moment, it felt like the worst thing that had ever happened to me.”

“So I wanted to do the impossible—flip it and make it the best thing that ever happened to me. And I think we did that over the year.”

“Fortunately for me, in the sport and the business we’re in, we don’t always have to be 100%. I was injured, in a sling, and still in the ring—talking my mess, cutting promos, and stuff like that. I was still a real contributor. That was like a weight off my shoulders.”
