A hilariously tense moment happened backstage on the April 1, 2026, episode of AEW Dynamite, as Christian Cage almost hit interviewer Renee Paquette with a steel chair during a heated segment along with Adam Copeland.
Paquette was trying to interview Copeland and Cage backstage. The two were already in a fiery mood as they walked around carrying steel chairs. They are currently feuding with FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler), and it seemed like the veterans couldn’t wait until their AEW Tag Team Title match at AEW Dynasty.
Christian Cage targets Renee Paquette with a steel chair
When Paquette tried to talk to Copeland and Cage, it was clear they were not interested. Copeland made it obvious that they were focused on FTR and ready to take out anyone in their way.
Then things almost went too far. In a heated moment, Cage, who was behind Paquette, suddenly swung his chair toward her, as if he was reacting without thinking. It could have been worse for Paquette, but Copeland quickly stepped in and stopped Cage before it hit her.
“Renee is not in our way,” Adam Copeland told Christian Cage.
Even after that, Cage didn’t seem too bothered and just walked away. Paquette looked shaken and disappointed. Copeland, however, stayed back for a moment and gestured an apology to Paquette. He then joined Cage and questioned his impulsive act, asking, “Renee, really? Renee?”
Later in the show, Copeland and Cage kept looking for FTR backstage. They went to FTR’s locker room thinking they would find them, but instead ran into RPG Vice ( Trent Beretta and Rocky Romero).
After that, RPG Vice revealed that FTR weren’t even at Dynamite and would appear on AEW Collision instead. Copeland and Cage decided they would be there too.
However, their anger did not subside yet. Cage said, “I think they are in our way.” The next moment, both veterans vented out their frustration and attacked RPG Vice with steel chairs and laid both men out in a brutal beatdown. It felt like a warning to everyone backstage, and especially to FTR.
