I’ve asked for info from sources on the Dusan Vlahovic links. I mean, The Times are a decent outlet and have some reliable reporters so I doubt this info has surfaced from nowhere at all.
But transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has rubbished the reports and says that Vlahovic is not a Chelsea target.
He should be. Well, maybe not because of his injury history, and that could be the reason he isn’t. But his profile should be. Because as I keep preaching and will continue to keep preaching until they address it, because I care, Chelsea need that profile of striker. They need a focal point to aim for, a striker who is good in the air, strong/physical in hold-up, and a bully to centre backs. Vlahovic ticks a lot of those boxes.
If we could get him on a loan with an option to buy this window if our other striker targets are not gettable, then we should absolutely be looking at it.
But no, of course we’re not. Because why would we be looking at the actual profile of a striker we need!? We are too busy contacting Manchester United for Alejandro Garnacho!
I’m being harsh this time I know. As I say, it could be down to his injury history as to why Chelsea are not looking at Vlahovic (according to Romano at least). So I will give them the benefit of the doubt there. And also, the window has two weeks left in it so there is every chance we do still sign the striker profile that we need. So I will hold the rest of my reactions until then.
But I think I am just feeling like this because I am seriously losing hope. Losing hope that our opinions even matter. Losing hope that they are doing this recruitment ‘their way or the highway’. Losing hope that the owners will step in and change what they are doing here. Losing hope that they will ever address the spine of the team with the profiles and calibre of player/s that we need.
Maybe they surprise us all this month. But probably not. 4-window plan and all that…..
