It appears that WWE wants to play the “free agent” card with some of NXT‘s top talents as we head into 2026.
Last week, it was reported that Trick Williams was backstage at the double-taping of RAW and SmackDown. Based on later reports following the show, it was revealed that Williams is now labeled as a “free agent” in WWE and would be looking to sign with RAW or SmackDown in 2026. Well, we now know he isn’t the only one.
During tonight’s episode of WWE RAW, NXT Superstar Je’Von Evans spoke with General Manager Adam Pearce before his match against Rayo Americano. Pearce informed Evans that he would like to discuss business with him following his match on tonight’s show.
It was later revealed on commentary that Evans is now a “free agent” in WWE and will be looking to sign with either RAW or SmackDown in the coming weeks.
This would seemingly explain why Evans couldn’t wait to cash in his NXT Championship match against Oba Femi at New Year’s Evil, which he won at Deadline and chose to have the match weeks sooner than originally planned.
Evans would go on to defeat Rayo Americano in an entertaining matchup.
Je’Von Evans is main roster ready
It’s been a long time coming for Je’Von Evans, who has already had multiple opportunities to prove himself on the main roster in recent months. Now we just await which brand he’ll eventually end up on.

Evans is in control early. Rayo takes over after Americano and Bravo crotch Evans on the top rope. Evans fires up after Rayo slaps him in the face. Evans eventually hits the OG Cutter for the win.
Winner- Je’Von Evans
Grade: B-
Solid match. Evans has been impressive everytime he has been featured on the main roster. The big thing here is Evans is being touted as a free-agent, which is odd. Seems there won’t be a draft this year, but the free agent angle is interesting for someone like Evans. The free agent gimmick is usually reserved for the monsters, not the high flyers.
