AEW star Anthony Bowens responded after a fan told him to drop his new baseball-themed gimmick.
Bowens posted a photo of himself on a baseball field, which led a fan to criticize his new gimmick. In response, Bowens explained that sharing his outside endeavors has already opened doors, including a partnership with the San Francisco Giants, and possibly one with the Giants and AEW.
Anthony Bowens also mentioned he’s involved in several upcoming events representing AEW. He wrote, “My baseball references have led to partnerships with the San Francisco Giants and potentially an AEW partnership between the organizations. As well as 3 other events that I’ll be taking part in this year representing @AEW . There’s a reason for everything I do. Thanks for your input. I am The Pride of Pro Wrestling.”
Back in January 2025, during the Maximum Carnage special of AEW Collision, Bowens made a big move by choosing Billy Gunn over his longtime tag partner Max Caster. That decision broke up The Acclaimed.
Since then, both wrestlers have taken different paths. Max Caster now calls himself the “Best Wrestler Alive” and issues open “five-minute challenges” to prove it. Anthony Bowens introduced his new gimmick at AEW Dynasty when he accepted one of Caster’s challenges. He now calls himself the “Pride of Pro Wrestling” and has been described as the “Five-Tool Player.” The latter is a moniker he also used prior to AEW, and it’s a baseball reference.
